Kings – The sin
“Kings,The Sin” opens shortly after David conquers the fortified city of Jerusalem, a feat he accomplishes under the guidance of the Lord, taking it from the Jebusites and establishing it as the capital of the Israelite nation. During this time, both the house of David and the kingdom of Israel flourish, experiencing political stability and military security unmatched by any previous ruler. Alongside his formidable allies, David triumphs over former oppressors, including the Philistines, Moabites, Ammonites, Syrians, Edomites, Amalekites, and anyone who dares to oppose him. Yet, nothing brings greater joy to David than constructing the Tabernacle in Jerusalem and transporting the Ark of the Covenant from Kiriath-Jearim, demonstrating his deep yearning to draw the people nearer to the presence of the Most High. The audience will witness the celebrated king of Israel at the zenith of his reign, as he shares with the prophet Nathan his aspiration to build a temple for the Lord of hosts. However, it is at this very moment, amidst inspiration, triumphs, and accomplishments, that David lowers his guard, succumbing to temptation and committing a sin that will lead to unimaginable repercussions in his life. In this captivating tale filled with conflicts and unexpected turns, we will encounter characters who significantly influence the narrative, such as the ambitious advisor to the king, Ahithophel; the stubborn yet fickle Bathsheba; the courageous and principled Uriah; and Nathan, David's loyal friend and prophet. We will also meet Mephibosheth, the humble descendant of Saul, who, after enduring years of hardship on the streets of Lo-Debar, reunites with his father's best friend and earns his favor. "Kings, the Sin" highlights the stark contrast between David: the devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and fearful servant, and David: the man shattered and tormented by the persistent presence of sin. The intriguing plot of the seventh season reveals, in a revealing manner, how a man whom God deemed a man after His own heart could commit such out-of-character acts, while also showcasing the boundless mercy of the Most High, always available to those who earnestly seek it with sincerity and an open heart.
